DAB Multiplexer core

In order to test the monitoring software we produce, we test it against samples provided from actual broadcasters, from all over the world. But to provide specific test-case data, we’ve been working on generating our own reconfigurations. The software we’ve already developed to do this is being re-factored into a multiplexer core. This core can be made available for commercial exploitation under a licensing agreement.

This development will be of immediate interest to parties developing DAB transmission equipment. We’d be very interested in “productising” this technology to meet the needs of equipment vendors.

ETI/IP Multiplexer

Our current test tool will be replaced with a new application, the ETI/IP Multiplexer. ETI/IP Multiplexer will provide excellent test facilities and involves no custom hardware (one network adapter and one sound card are required.)

ETI/IP Multiplexer emits ETI frames in either Network Independent or Network Adapted format (both variants supported); in either case, 6144 bytes constituting each frame is generated every 24ms. Accurate timing is provided by a sound card.

Frames are sent end-to-end using a TCP/IP socket. Several instances of the multiplexer may be run simultaneously, each generating output on a different socket. Each instance generates a net 2048kbit/s output stream. Configurable buffering at either end is employed to compensate for TCP/IP delays.
